"Crawl" on tv screen - cause?

What causes the "crawling" line (or travelling horizontal line) that appears
on my tv screen while watching cable?

Better yet, what is the solution?

Thank you. I'll give that a try (I had just changed the cable but perhaps
it is in a different position than the other one was in).

That did the trick...the tv cable was looped around the power cord.

Interference from a power cable, perhaps.

If the video cable and the power cable are touching,
separate them. If they must cross, try to make it
so that they cross at 90 degrees to minimize
the possibility of interference.

You can also try another cable with better shielding.

Great. Glad to got it squared away.

The loop actually makes the problem worse.

When you coil a cable, as many people do,
you in effect create an antenna, which increases
the extent of the interference.
