Very simple set up for now: SA3800hdtv>HDMI>Panny 32lx700. However, it
appears that there is a very slight delay between lips moving and
hearing the sound. The TV is set to BB+SS and its speakers are about
1-2" from the leading edge of the armoire it is in.

this is an adjustment made frequently
one piece of equipment is supposed
to be adjustable, check all the user
manuals. sync is often required when
using multiple digital signal chain,
if no adjustment available contact
manufacturer. Usually somehow
adjustable. But if only occurring with
DVD, that's a player problem. If PC
source, overload on processor.
What is the source or does it occur
with cable, sat, DVD? All sources? |

The source appears to be the SA3800hd, but I am not sure. I have two
sa3800s for two different tvs. The same ABChd program was recorded on
each stb. The recording viewed on my older, ctr tv was in lip synch,
however the playback on the new panny 32lx700 was not. Watching various
channels on the lx700 via the stb showed no problems with lip synch.
Although this leads to stb as the problem, one still can't rule out the
new tv???

Have to redefine the problem with more data input. My wife DVRs her
daytime soaps emanating from ABC-HD (431 via comcast). She DVRs them on
two different TVs (rear projection Sony-6 years old and the new panny
32lx700, both having a SA3800HD stb). Interestingly, the DVR playback
from the sony/sa3800 is in lip synch, while the playback from the
panny/sa3800 is not. Furthermore, when just viewing ABC-HD on the panny,
the lips are out of synch, but all other stations are in synch. When
viewing ABC-HD on the sony, the lips are in synch (as are all other
channels). The sound on the STB is set to narrow and the sound on the
panny is set to surround (although changing the various settings on the
panny makes no difference). The connection between stb and panny is
hdmi. Bottom line, why would only on station exhibit out of synch sound?
The best that comcast help could do (before sending out a tech) was to
suggest that by splitting (I'm using comcasts approved splitter) the
incoming cable between the TV and the STB, I'm diminishing the signal
and that could cause the problem. I haven't tried setting up with the
cable directly to the stb as I just can't believe that the split cable
is causing this problem (used this system with the previous tv, a sony
wega, and didn't have this problem
