I have a Series 2 DT TiVo, Comcast digital/HD service, a home theater setup
with a Panasonic TH42PX50U TV (42" HD tuner). Things worked fine for a very
long time, and I could record two programs while watching a 3rd on live TV.
Some time ago, I stopped getting sound from the TV input while still getting
the picture.

I've checked and everything is hooked up correctly. I have a 2-way split on
the cable feed, one directly into the TV and one to the cable box. The TV
speakers work fine when using Tivo or the box, and the surround sound works
fine with all components. It's just the sound from live TV. As far as I
know, no changes were made to any settings. I've checked all settings
several times.

Obviously the TV only picks up basic cable channels 2-77 with this set-up.
For some reason, I can pick up a few digital channels past 77
(bleed-through?) and the sound works on those channels. It appears to be
only the standard definition channels.

Any suggestions? Does it have something to do with Comcast going to
digital?

Thanks for any input.

Mike

Check the sound setup on the TV. Perhaps the analog tuner was set to output
SAP instead of MTS sound on the analog channels. The digital standard
def channels typically don't use MTS - they normally are DD2.0, so that would
explain why you hear sound on those via the TV tuner.

Strange ,this same thing happened to me with my Samsung hd
50" 6 months
after I got it....turned out it was the plugs? from the TV
to the Stereo that went
bad, ended up having to replace the WHOLE TV motherboard
since it is a
one piece unit......everything worked but the sound from
tv to stereo.

Still under warrantee so it was free but *(%#@^&*&

Also have discovered that I have to boot the *Stereo FIRST
then the TV or
sometimes the sound is skewed (I never turn off the
HD-DVR)

Hope this helps

You didn't explicitly say, but is it on the surround sound receiver
that you do not get the sound from the TV on, or is it on the actual
TV that the sound doesn't come out?
The difference is whether its a problem from the cable company (the
source is wrong) or in the TV (transport, interpretation of the
signal), or in the receiver (wrong listening mode, etc.).
Could you clarify this?
