bloody hell, I've felt an earth tremor before, but that one just woke me
up while I was in bed, and I felt it jerking my whole bed up and down
for about 10 seconds,

bgs wibble seemed to be in meltdown by the time I booted up PC

Funny, usually I'm pretty groggy for a few seconds after my zeds are
rudely interrupted, but I knew straight away what it was, I just laid
there "soaking it up", when it stopped I peered out of window expecting
neighbours to be doing same, or rajo to mention it, but no confirmation
for several minutes *then* I started wondering if I'd imagined it ...

Looking back over the last week or so of recordings, no pre-shocks, but
it's noticible that you can spot (what I assume is) traffic rumble
during pbzzhgr periods.

Felt nothing here (Texas). Must be on good terms with God. He must
be quite forgiving.

Massive Earthwobble In England!

Casualties estimated in the dozens of chimneypots!

Worldwide appeal for blanket... coverage in the media!

Indonesian authorities state "Monday's magnitude 7 quake here and the 11
other quakes we've had in the last four days all greater than magnitude 5,
pale into insignificance compared with the terror faced by the poor
inhabitants of England. Our hearts go out to them."

It woke the residents of Chateau Wafflycat down here in Norfolk, with both
noise & movement. One of my cats remained stuck to me for the rest of the
night: a good limpit impersonation, but the other two were not bothered in
the slightest.

There's one street in Gainsborough with more OB vans than fallen
chimmney pots.

Poor old Market Rasen, where it was worst, seems not to be on TV's
map.

Don't you just love the English? Here's a quote from the BBC news story
about it:
David Somerset, 41, from Driffield near Beverley in East Yorkshire,
said: "I have never felt one as strong as that one before. I was in my
sitting room and the grandfather clock was rattling rather violently."

I wonder why journos insist on quoting the Richter scale whilst
seismologists always use the Mercalli one.
