7.1? There isn't a real standard 7.1 unless you are talking about a
proprietary surround like Harman-Kardon's Logic-7. The DD-EX and DTS-ES are
6.1 standards (as the rear surround is mono and some companies use 2
speakers for the output). The Harman-Kardon AVR-325, AVR-525 is a nice unit
as is the Denon AVR-3803 and AVR-2803 (these are 6.1), Marantz etc.

I agree the Onkyo receivers are also very good and recommended.

Maybe im wrong but i think he wants a recommendation for a 1000$
subwoofer, not reciever ideas.
