Remote clutter is getting to me in my new HT.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance,

(Ignore previous post with remote-central; that's a garbage domain). |

My neighbor got a universal remote. He says it helped, but there are
still some operations where you need the original remote. I keep my
remotes (all 8 of them) in a side-table drawer, but usually need 1 or
2 at any time depending on what I want to do. One issue with a
universal remote is that they might not handle you next new piece of
hardware purchased (perhaps a Blu-Ray burner, satellite tuner?) |

Here's what I use. You can get them on Ebay at reasonable prices
rather than being ripped off at Tweeter.
http://www.universalremote.com/product_detail.php?model=38
I like that they have software that I can use to simulate the remote,
set it up using the device codes from their huge, and frequently
updated device database. If you don't like they way they have done
your device, you can modify their settings by entering your own or by
learning from the device remote. Lots of custom device setups can be
found at remotecentral.com.
Their device database contains the new Bluray players and the
satellite receivers from Dish And DirectTV. As a last resort you can
teach it from the device remote and then save it so you change it
later if you wish.
I have Aragon Stage One processor and I even found a set up fro that.
The only downside is that even on Ebay they are not real cheap. I find
it's worth it to me.
