I have the chance to buy a 1-year old Sony Wega, model #KV-27FS13. It is
27" and does not have PIP but seems to have all other options like 3-line
comb filter 16:9 compression and other stuff.

It is in perfect cosmetic shape and works fine according to the seller.

I am just worried that as soon as I get it someting weird is gonna happen
and I will have to pay hundreds to get it fixed. Also some of the Wegas
appear to have weird image issues after reading many reviews on the net.

He wants $250 for it so it is a pretty good deal I think.

Any help is appreciated.

Jason

I have two Sony flat screens at home: a 20 inch and 13 inch. I've
noticed no problems such as image trouble. Granted, I love Sony
televisions and recently spent $220 to repair my 11-year old 27-inch
set. But, I know what I have and its history. I believe the set you are
describing is a flat screen model. New ones are selling for twice the
price he is asking. You didn't mention whether you have seen the set
perform. If you are looking at it and don't see any problems and realize
you can buy a new 27- inch Panasonic (non-flat screen) for the same
$250, then you may want to take the chance. Since there is no warranty,
you must assume the risk unless the seller is willing to give you a
30-day return option or pay 50% of any repairs that occur within the
first 30 days ( might need to be a relative of his to get this, but you
never know). Does he still have the receipt and manual? I keep
everything. This might help to prove the set is legit.
