Wrong. Take a look at the OP:

"Are there any newly announced Bluray players that support DVD-A? I came
across an older Panasonic player which did (DMP-BD10), but this player
seems to have a number of flaws."

The talk wasn't just about Sony.

From what Oppo has recently said, it doesn't sound as if it is going ot get
into the Hi-def player game anytime soon.

Already has happened. Panasonic BD10A is the best (to date) Blu-ray player
there is and is fully DVD Audio functional.

Great player...

Depends on how you define 'soon'. I suspect we'll see one from them in a year or
two. They're interested:

Wow. That's a complete turnaround from a few weeks ago. If anyone will
become the competitve nexis to drive down the price of a good Blu Ray
player, it will be Oppo.

The OP was looking for a Bluray player with DVD-A..Sony controls Bluray and
does not support DVD-A.

You clear now, or are you still trying to look for a Bluray player with
DVD-A support to prove me wrong?

Point is...Sony won't allow DVD-A to mix with their Bluray format.

And yet the Panasonic DMP-BD10A supports DVD-A just fine.

imagine...

In a Sony, yes.

Other Blu-Ray manufacturers can and do.

Bullshit. Sony LICENSES Bluray, and the licensing does not prohibit a
manufacturer from incorporating DVD-A. Both SACD and DVD-A formats are
falling the way of the 8 track. There just isn't much interest by consumers,
hence not much interest from the CD publishers.

All you need to do is show us the cite prohibiting any manufacturer building
bluray players from using DVD-A. We'll wait.

Utter bullshit. Show us the cite for that. Panasonic has already put the two
together.

We'll wait while you dig up your information.

This guy is gonna keep arguing nonsense, despite the evidence. I'll just
wait for him to produce a cite showing that Sony will not allow other
manufacturers to use DVD-A.

As the OP, I can attest that some of this discussion did digress from
my intent. I recognize that I am probably in a small minority, but I do
like the DVD-A format, but I accept the reality that it is most likely a
lost cause. That being said, it would still be nice to continue to
have the capability to play the few DVD-A discs that I have.
Truthfully, I am more concerned that there is not a Bluray player
currently available that I am really happy with. The little 'whoops'
they pulled with the Bluray 1.1 profile is very irritating.

That was never the question asked, it was about blu players that might
support DVD-A, not about Sony blu players that might. let's keep the
apples with the apples and not the oranges.
