<< And this is not true as I already explained. The HS510 **Does NOT**
have an User adjustable "DRC V1" , this greatly improves the quality
of old analog NTSC video material. The 800 also comes with better
internal speakers, XBR styling and a full two year warranty opposed to
one year for the HS. >>

I said that the XBR800 would lose it's XBR tag and be sold as a standard set,
and I was 99% correct. The only thing else that's changed (in terms of
hardware) is the DRC chip. I don't think the speakers have changed at all,
although I've got to go and do a side by side comapro (or ask the Sony rep). I
don't know why you're arguing with me, because it's obvious that the 510 and
800 are pretty much identical. All they did was drop the XBR tag and lose the
DRC.

<< As I already mentioned for the 150-200 difference the XBR800 is the
obvious smart buy before they disappear from stock. As the 510 *is not
a retagged Xbr800 but rather castrated XBR800. >>

I wouldn't call the XBR510 "castrated". It's an XBR800 minus the tag, the DRC
chip, and a few hundred dollars in price. It's a pretty damn good deal for 98%
of the people looking at these types of sets.

The DRC V1 is a very desired option. That was the big difference
between the XBR450 & 800 series (plus dvi) and the biggest prior
complaint with the XBR handing of NTSC material . It does have better
speakers and a twice as strong factory warranty. Considering you said
the 34HS510 was a retagged XBR800 I would say you were 100% wrong, not
99% right. The reason I made these points clear (not arguing) is from
your statement one would think the HS510 is a XBR800 at a slightly
cheaper price and maybe even better. With these details I'm bringing
to your & everyone else's attention will provide better buying
decisions for everybody concerned while the Xbr800's are still
available.

And this is not correct either, The Xbr800 will be discontinued very
soon if not already. Nobody from what i know are receiving any more
delieveries on these sets. Whats left in the warehouses is it. There
will be no HS515 or 520 or whatever you implied above. Take care Steve

This statement was wrong, and I took it back. The plain and simple fact of the
matter is that the 510 and 800 are ALMOST IDENTICAL the same words the Sony
Rep. used right in front of my face. So when I sad that the 800 would be
re-tagged as a non-XBR model, I was pretty much right. The DRC chip may be a
big deal to you, but it is *not* to 99% of the people buying TVs from me. And
seeing as my store has yet to start selling the 510s, I'm not really expected
to know that the DRC chip is missing. I'll give you this: the 800 might be a
better bang for the buck *to you* than the 510. But at $200 more, you're paying
for the DRC chip, which most people won't care about, and an extra year on the
warranty. And most retail stores sell 1-2 year extended warranty plans starting
at approx. $50, so most people will probably opt for that. The *really* good
deals will come when the 910s actually start arriving at stores, and they have
2 or 3 or 4 800s left to dump, those'll get discounted fast.

Actually, the 34" displays a 16:9 picture that's almost identical in size to
the 40" and slightly larger than the 36. Of course, its 4:3 image is
considerably smaller.

That's my concern. I saw a Sony 34 next to a 40 in 16:9 and they did
appear very close, but in 4:3, the 40 inch wins.
