OK!
This is just an opinion. I'm just a beginner, and I was reading all this
bashing about Bose. I really can't say much about them. But I've heard them,
and for the size they trully do sound amazing. Not that I ever would buy
them, but if just for looks, and a pretty damn good sound, and to hide them
easily in your living room, yeah I would probably buy them.
I just want to know, why people waste their time just bashing something that
somebody else likes, it is just a waste of time (good for laughs for us
people reading it). I don't get any info from you guys just bashing stuff,
you guys are here to help people with their problems, not telling them to
screw this brand and get this one, just tell them what you prefer and how
you have it set up.
A beginner just trying to learn something

My home theater setup :
JVC AV48WP30
BEV 5100 for TV
Denon AVR-3802
Denon DVD-1600
JBL SCS35SI 6 speaker (as you see not the greatest speakers for this setup,
just wating for some more money to get better ones, and no, they will
probably not be Bose, I was looking at Mission, Infinity or Energy)
Everything is all hooked up with Monster Cables and Acoustic Research

Perhaps those of us who don't care for Bose - admittedly, I am one of them -
should add the following signature to all of our posts:
"Friends don't let friends buy Bose."

To me they just sounded loud not amazing. Anything can sound loud.
My Energy 5.2 sounds much better and they are not that much bigger.
Try asking a saleman to put Bose speaker next to one of the other
speakers listed here side by side in the same room and have them
switch back and forth between them and see what you think. Of course
Bose has an agreement with the store to not to do that. Makes you
wonder why, when no one else I know does that.

Because Bose is that bad compaired to other products, that it pisses
people off who are really into this stuff.
If Toyota could convince people that their lowest end car was as good
as a high end BMW, for example, and starting charging people $60,000+
for the car and people were buying them. Don't you think they would
start to be ragged on by car lovers who asked about them...
BTY, I own 2 Toyota's so please don't kill me for using them in my
example...

A few weeks back, I happened to stop by the store where I bought all
my speakers. So my salesman tells me, you hafta check this out (and
remember, he's already sold me all the speakers I'm going to buy, so
this is for fun, not to make a sale).
They had sold and installed a complete system to a guy who had one of
the Bose systems, and he told them to take it, and do whatever they
wanted with them (not sure of any model numbers - they were the small
cube speakers). So, they hooked them up in their demo room. He played
the Bose, then played the cheapest pair of Paradigm's they carried -
the Cinema series, which run not that much over $100/pr (don't quote
me on the price).
Compared to even those cheap Paradigms (which are a great sounding
speaker for the price point and size, btw), the Bose sounded like an
overhead loudspeaker at Kmart. I couldn't believe how much worse the
Bose sounded...
(I happen to own Paradigm, but do not own the Cinema series myself -
his point was to demo them against the absolute cheapest pair of
speakers they carried)

This is a semantic thing, but in point of fact, the Bose cubes are
the cheapest speaker on the market to produce, they just have a
very high MSRP and margin vs COGS.

Which is more patriotic?
1. Buying a Chevrolet that was made in Mexico?
2. Buying a Toyota that was made in California? |

The answer is different if you're Japanese, Mexican or American. Of course
you could also buy a Ford that's made in Hiroshima, Japan. Come to think of
it, doesn't Honda have a plant in Ohio. |

I'm not sure how current this info is, but Honda has manufacturing in
Marysville, East Liberty, Anna, and Russells Point - all in Ohio.
Cheers, Derek
