Of course, asking a question like this in alt.home-theater.misc is like
waving a red flag in front of a bull...
I have an old Sony GX-59ES receiver from oh, mid-90s, no digital inputs...
you get the picture. I just moved, and during the move the poor beast now
works for about a minute before shutting itself off and flashing its
overload light. I tried cleaning it, searching for wires bridging gaps,
etc, but it's pretty dead.
Poor thing. Is it worth fixing at all, given its age? I could get a
quite capable receiver for only a few hundred dollars (and start using
those digital outputs on my other newer components), and I'm not clear
on how much electronics repair costs these days.
