My Sattlite receiver only has one svhs output. Both the TV and svhs
recorder need imputs which I am able to do through my receiver but
when time shifting I have to leave the receiver on all day or night as
case may be.

Can I get a device to split the signal from the sat receiver?

If so what brand would have the least impact on the signal quality?

I'm presuming that the "svhs output" is actually "s-video output."

What you need isn't so much a "splitter" but rather a distribution
amplifier. I faced a similar problem with the output of my digital cable
box; wanted do send an output to the TV and another to the VCR.

Surprisingly enough, one I got from Radio Shack (15-1172) actually works
well. I'm not a fan of RS product quality, but I took a recommendation
on this one, and have been pleased with its performance. It has one
input and four outputs. On my 36" TV I couldn't tell the difference
between direct connect and with this thing inline, and I'm quite picky.

Good luck!

Marc

My cable people tell me that there is very, very little difference between
using s-vid and vid with TV screen 36" and under as compared to the bigger
screens and rear projections screens. Have never checked it out. Do you
know if this is so?
