Denon AVR-1804 help

I just got a new speaker setup and need to go into the receiver
setup...but I can't. The system requires the remote for setup and the
remote isn't working correctly. Yes it has fresh batteries, and it
will turn on/off the zones, but neither volume nor setup nor any other
button that I have found will work.

Ideas?

Many of those Denon "Multifunction Remotes" can be very very confusing
if you get it into another "component function mode"... Is there a
chance that is what
happened? Did you mistakenly hit a button that changed the function away
from the receiver?

I thought of that but no...but as it turned out t magically started
working. No clue why, but life is good again.
