Computer for HD/Blue Ray DVD?

With the HD/BR competition still unresolved, one can bet on one or the other
with a dedicated player or spend big bucks to get a player that will handle
both formats.

OR ...

You can incorporate your AV capable computer with a DVD that handles both
formats.

Has anyone done this? Are the results okay?

I can see problems with insufficient control of video and audio output. I
also wonder whether the more exotic audio modes (beyond Dolby digital and
DTS) can be output successfully. Comments?

yes and the manufacturer of the drive allows it with
a software upgrade (that you pay extra for)
and it works well with a 512 video card, you may
find much better than the motherboard video that's
built in many times. It takes a lot of the processor
to run and using a second processor on the video
card works to your advantage, but pay, pay pay for
it. And yes there are more audio modes that you
pay more for again.
