I am currently assembling a secondary home theatre dedicated to
Laserdisc, however I have been unable to settle on what television to
use. What I need is an analog NTSC set with the best possible picture,
and hopefuly be able to be serviced in the future. I have no problem
with importing the set from Japan, I just need to know what I am
looking for. Much thanks!

Nothing wrong with good old Laserdisc. The format has interested me
for years, I can only now afford to get into it. All I need is a good
analog tv... |

I plan on being able to gain a pretty large collection of LDs off eBay
and the LDDb, should be plenty of fun.
On looking at the Sony units, I stumbled across the Sony 32" XBR100,
which seems to have gained fairly positive reviews from users. Even
better, its an analog NTSC set. Does anyone have any experience with
this television? Now all I need to do is find somewhere to buy one in
decent condition... |

That was a very well reviewed and regarded set in its day, and an analog
NTSC SD set will look better than trying to look at LD on a higher def
set. A friend of mine has one he's had for a while, might even be the
previous generation of that set, and he's quite happy with it.
When I bought my last tube set, I looked at the 32 inch XBR2 set and the
Protons. They were very close, I wound up with a 31 inch Proton as the
black level performance seemed better, but it was also probably a matter
of adjustment, and the Sony had a better range of adjustments, including
different ones for each input which I wish the Proton had. |

An analog set with Laserdisc? Did you just
wake up from being in a coma for twenty years?

Why are you so keen on analog set? I also have a laserdisc collection and
having previously owned several top of the line CRT TVs I can tell you that
the my new Sony Bravia LCD set is excellent and far superior to my previous
TVs for getting the best from a laserdisc.
cheers and merry xmas!

Oh BTW, if you want an analog projector.. I have a Sony with 9" guns that
has 500 hrs on it.. I would love to sell it. It is big but what all the
best theaters used at the time... I bought it for my theater but it would
not go where I wanted it to go..
