I have a Sony HDTV, A Toshiba DVD Reorder/Player, A JVC Receiver and
XBox 360. I cannot seem to get them all hooked up to the tv at the
same time and have them work. What is the problem? I have invested a
small fortune into every kind of cable possible and still nothing. I
have HDMI on all units. Can anybody help me?????
Thank You

I don't really have a preference on how it gets hooked up, just so
they all work. The Sony TV is model # KDF 50WE655. I would like them
all to operate from the receiver so that I can use the surround sound
when I want but beggers can't be choosers. |

My first thought is have the receiver control everything; ie, all
components are plugged into the receiver/amp. I still need to juggle
remote controls from time to time. |

Not nearly enough information.
Which JVC receiver? Can it upconvert signals to HDMI output? How many
component video and HDMI inputs does it have?
Is the TV on cable, cable, box, satellite, antenna, a combination of these?
VERY theoretically. Video:
XBOX input to receiver through HDMI cable if it has one (or component
cables: 3).
DVD input to receiver through component cables
Cable box or Satellite input to receiver through HDMI (or component
cables)
Receiver output to TV through HDMI (assumes video upconversion)
Audio to receiver
Cable/Sat box and Xbox through HDMI
or through digital (coax/tosslink) cables
DVD through digital cable
Assign video/audio inputs in receiver setup menus (the receiver needs to
know where the video and audio for each component is coming from).
There are a number of possibilities of hookup for even a simple system such
as yours. You might try reading the manuals that came with the hardware.
Getting the receiver to acknowledge a particular input for a particular
device can be daunting. If you're still baffled, perhaps you have a friend
that's more technically proficient. OR, you could hire a professional.
Getting a detailed, step by step, explanation here is probably not going to
happen.
