Hi,

Do any of you know of any way to find A/V receivers if one knows what
needs to be controlled via the receiver? For example, "I have a 1080i
TV with Component inputs, 5 speakers a powered subwoofer, two devices
with component video and 5.1 digital coax audio outputs, two devices
with composite video and L/R Stereo Audio, and I would like to be able
to control them all from the receiver".

This is just an example to set the stage, I'm wondering if there's an
online "buyers guide" somewhere that might help me. It's difficult to
look at every model from every vendor's spec sheet.

Am I hoping for a miracle?

Thanks!

Your next tv will have a HDMI connection so you want a receiver with HDMI
capability. If you want to use a vcr with it then is has to be able to
upgrade the vcr signal and send it thru hdmi. So if you want to be future
ready and still use a vcr you should be looking for those features. Right
now Onkyo has the cheapest receivers with those capabilities.

There are a lot of ht receivers that will do what you want.
Check www.crutchfield.com and see what they have. You can
buy elsewhere for less, but their website is informative.

Thanks for the reply, I've looked at several Onkyo models. I guess
rather than asking for recommendations I was wondering if there was a
wizard somewhere online I could use.

Good call on the HDMI -- my current tv isn't HDMI, so I will add that
to my search too.

Also when you get HDMI don't get ripped off for a cable at best buy or
circuit city. www.monoprice.com for cables. Or ebay.
