Need to calibrate the picture on my new panny 32lx700. I have the Avia
I, but don't have a dvd hooked into the panny. I'm thinking of two
things to do, but I'm not sure if they will work.

1. The SA3800hd has a SATA external hard drive input. I'm thinking of
putting the Avia into my computer's dvd disk drive and copying it into
my external hard drive (not sure if this can be done). If it can, then
I would hook the external hard drive into the SA 3800 and play the Avai
from there????

2. Borrow my daughter's portable dvd player, put in the Avai disk and
then hook directly into the panny???

You can copy it to the drive yes, but how would you play it? And the next
question...why would a TV have a hard drive input?

As long as the portable has component or HDMI, go for it. I doubt it does.

Personally since you've got a nice TV..why not splurge and spend the extra
$50 for a nice upcoverting DVD player?

The external hd attaches into the STB/DVR.

Unfortunately, you appear to be right. The video out from the DVD
player appears to be a composite.

A reasonable idea...
